Ellie Goulding talks on 'debilitating' anxiety that sent her into 'overdrive'

Ellie Goulding talked about her "debilitating" anxiety for years and how it drove her to admit the pandemic and her pregnancy.

The 36-year-old singer talked about how she deals with the disorder after giving birth to a son named Arthur in April 2021 with her husband, Caspar Jopling.

"It’s debilitating," the Love Me Like You Do singer stated in a recent interview with The Independent. I didn't even notice I was exercising so much because I was running so much, so I put it off for years. So when I came to a stop, I thought, "Oh.""

The musician went on to say that being pregnant during the lockdown "sent my nervous system into overdrive" and that her anxiety became even more "excruciating" without the outlet of performing.

Ellie went on to say that she prefers holistic approaches to feeling better and values "slower movements like stretching."

"I'm about to continue to attempt stuff," she conceded, "since the pandemic, I don't have the foggiest idea about a solitary individual, really, who doesn't have tension."

After twice delaying the release of her new album Higher Than Heaven, Goulding gave the interview on Friday.

As her fifth album came out in the UK, Goulding was seen getting ready for an album signing in London.

The release of Higher Than Heaven was initially scheduled for February, but it was postponed until March 24, 2023.

However, issues with "sourcing material" for physical formats caused the album's second delay.

"As you know, making these products as green as possible is incredibly important to me so we’ve worked really hard to stick to that promise" was the singer's lengthy Instagram statement at the time.

"We have to push back the release ever so slightly to April 7 just so we can get these beautiful products to you as soon as humanly possible," she added. "As a result and due to delays in sourcing these products, we have to push back the release ever so slightly to April 7."

"Much obliged to you quite a lot for your understanding and I love all of you. Ellie x" shared this post after the singer gave a glimpse into the music video for her new single Miracle, which she co-wrote with Calvin Harris and peaked at number one on the charts.

Ellie's third collaboration with DJ Calvin Harris, Miracle was released on March 10 and follows the success of I Need Your Love in 2013 and Outside in 2014.
