Khan's remarks followed Musadik Malik, the Pakistan Petroleum Minister,'s assurance regarding oil imports.

Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, acknowledged India's success in foreign policy and stated that Pakistan, like India, desired cheap Russian crude oil. He went on to say that this couldn't happen because his government fell apart in 2022 because of a no-confidence vote.

The head of the PTI was also the first Pakistani prime minister to visit Moscow in 23 years, but he was unable to negotiate a deal. According to the news agency ANI, Imran Khan said, "We wanted to get cheap Russian crude oil just like India, but that could not happen because unfortunately, my government fell due to a no-confidence motion." This statement was cited as a quote.

Khan's remarks followed Musadik Malik, the Pakistan Petroleum Minister,'s assurance regarding oil imports. Malik told a Pakistani news channel that the very first shipment of modest oil from Russia will arrive at Pakistan one month from now.

He went on to say that the Pakistani government had made progress in this area and hoped to issue separate billing for the rich and poor.

Despite US pressure, Imran Khan supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to purchase cheap oil in May 2022. Imran Khan has stated on numerous occasions that the reason his government was ousted was because it pursued an "independent foreign policy," which would have allowed Pakistan to purchase oil from Russia at reduced prices.
