Video shows reinstated TN State Rep Justin Jones stopping cars and assaulting drivers in summer of 2020?
During summer protests outside of the state Capitol in 2020, footage has surfaced of the disgraced Tennessee state representative Justin Jones stopping cars and assaulting drivers.
At the time, Jones said that the story about him being violent was false.
The footage contradicts this.
"In order to distract from their own actions, they will attempt to promote a false narrative that portrays me as "violent." They'll say that I'm out of line. This is their plan. However, I look forward to the opportunity to clearly present our evidence." Jones tweeted.
Neighborhood blog Scoop Nashville highlighted the savage film in 2021, composing:
"In June of 2020, Justin Bautista-Jones, more commonly referred to as "Brother Jones" in the local community, was one of the protesters at the State Capitol who were in the public eye (often by design). After it was discovered that he was frequently only making appearances when he knew there would be media coverage, he faced backlash from his own community and eventually had an argument with one of the group's other most prominent female members.
"Despite multiple assaults, assault on an officer, and reckless endangerment charges, he has always denied that he was violent throughout the entire time. One of his assaults was caught on video and shown to the Grand Jury, where he was charged with two counts of reckless endangerment."
Jones, a Democrat, was reinstated to the House on Monday afternoon for leading an anti-gun protest into the storming of the state Capitol last month. Jones had been kicked out of the House.
The Nashville Metropolitan Board casted a ballot consistently to restore Jones. He was reappointed as an interim representative for the 52nd District with the support of all 36 council members.
Jones had asserted that a "white supremacist system" was to blame for his dismissal.
Jones addressed Al Sharpton on MSNBC, "Though their vote was racist, though their vote was to expel the two youngest Black lawmakers, their attack on democracy hurts all of us, whether you’re Black, brown, or White, it's an assault on all of us."
Jones was previously prohibited from contacting certain "lawmakers and visiting the legislative building until April 22, 2020" when he was an activist. This was the consequence of a seperate episode in which he was blamed for tossing a cup of fluid at ex-House Speaker Glen Casada.
